Dear Internet2 Member:

NOTE: This message contains a 31-December-2002 deadline for a software 
offer available only to Internet2 member institutions. This is an 
informational message only, and no endorsement is implied and none should 
be inferred.

As you may have heard, Metamerge, the directory integration toolkit 
company, was acquired by IBM last summer. Metamerge had a long-standing and 
well-received policy of granting zero-dollar licenses for their software to 
institutions of higher education world-wide. After a lengthy period of 
adjustment and negotiation, IBM has settled on the terms with which they 
will deal with Internet2.

All Internet2 member institutions of higher education have until 
31-December-2002 to guarantee their eligibility to receive a free, 
perpetual, license for version 4.7 of the Metamerge Integrator (MI) product 
(not eligible for support through IBM). To exercise this option, please 
send email containing a contact name, email address, postal address and 
institution name to the following address:



If you are a current Metamerge license holder, it is essential that you 
send this email to get a new license. Requests from institutions that have 
licenses set to expire soon who need to have uninterrupted access to MI 
will receive priority treatment. If your institution is in this situation, 
please be sure to mention that fact in your email.

As more details become clear (such as, will the license be in the name of 
an individual or of the institution) those of you that respond to this 
offer will receive further clarifying messages.
