Dear Colleagues:

I’d like to call to your attention to plans for the next Internet2
Virtual Briefing, scheduled for Tuesday, June 11 from 1:00-2:30pm eastern
time.  The Briefing will feature a rebroadcast of Lawrence Lessig’s
talk at the TERENA Networking Conference 2002, underway this week in
Limerick, Ireland.  Dr. Lessig will address the topic “Free
Culture”, and will discuss the struggles over ideas and creativity that
mark our present time. These struggles will redefine the meaning of
freedom for the 21st century.  Following the presentation, Molly S.
Van Houweling, executive director of Creative Commons, will facilitate a
live open discussion for Briefing participants.  The Creative
Commons is a non-profit organization founded on the notion that some
people would prefer to share their creative works (and the power to copy,
modify, and distribute their works) instead of exercising all of the
restrictions of copyright law.
