Dear Colleagues:

The updated program for the Spring 2002 Internet2 Member Meeting is now available at http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/spring_02.html . A few sessions have been added or enhanced, including:

 - A security session on "Protecting the National Infrastructure", with Brent Hovington from the National Infrastructure Protection Center;
 - Confirmed speakers and a new title for the lunchtime birds-of-a-feather session on making the case for continued investments in advanced networking.  This session is now titled "Campus Network Funding - Strategies and Challenges".  Mort Rahimi (Northwestern Univ.), Annie Stunden (Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison), Jack Suess (Univ. of Maryland-Baltimore County), and Gordon Wishon (Univ. of Notre Dame) will be leading the discussion on strategies for supporting continued investments in high-performance networking and advanced applications;
 - A remote performance by the New World Symphony, an Internet2 Affiliate member, supported by StarValley, an Internet2 Corporate member, at the reception on Monday evening, May 6; and
 - Live netcasts of three talks taking place at the CENIC 2002 meeting in San Diego, California, including "21st Century Networking" by Larry Smarr; "Future Revolution in Optical Communications and Networking" by Alan Willner; and "Networking the Engineering, IT, Humanities and Social Sciences" by Ruzena Bajcsy.

Information on the advanced application demos at the Member Meeting can be found at
http://apps.internet2.edu/html/spring02-featured-demos.html

If you haven't already registered, please do so as soon as possible.  Online registration will end on Wednesday, May 1.

I'd also like to call your attention to the next Internet2 Virtual Briefing, which will take place on Thurday, April 18 at 1:00pm EDT.  This is a netcast of a pre-recorded session at the Networking 2002 meeting in Washington, D.C.  The topic is "Strategic Policy Issues of Broadband to the Home and Last-Mile Connectivity to the Campus".  More information on the session and how to view it can be found at http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/20020418.html

See you in Arlington!

        Laurie
