Prework and Workshop Virtual Machines

  1. As time permits, the very first thing you should do to prepare is to read through this handy midPoint document to get familiar with key terminology, etc.

  1. Once you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, head on over to our class Google drive and read the LABS-basics-prerequisites document and follow the instructions so that you’ll ultimately have the Eclipse plugin installed.

  1. When you’re ready to self-assign a VM, head over here and pick your favorite IP address. Just add your name and organization and make sure you can connect to it with the student userid and password. These VMs will remain in-tact for 2 weeks after the class concludes.

  1. Now that you’ve worked your way through the prerequisite document and self-assigned a VM, you’re ready for the LABS-basics document. These are the labs that we will be working through during the class, but you’re welcome to take a sneak peek and poke around in advance.

If you run into any snags with signing into a VM or any of the other pre-work, please post a note in Slack and we’ll help you out!

Other Tidbits

The fearless Ivan Noris, of Evolveum, will be our instructor. We also have some other midPoint expertise attending, so don’t be surprised if you see Ethan Kromhout, Paul Caskey, Chris Hubing, or Keith Hazelton answer your questions in the Slack channel.

We’ll take several breaks throughout the day, and a longer break for lunch around 12:00 ET (of course our friends on the west coast may opt for brunch instead).

We will be recording this session so that we can internally review it later. Please let me know if you are NOT comfortable with this!

We’re looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and making new midPoint friends December 3 – 5th.

Cheers,
Erin and the whole midPoint training crew
