The Subversion server upgrade has been completed.
Happily it appears the requirement for 1.4-supporting tools applies only to those clients directly interacting with the filesystem resident repository. So, individuals need not remove their local working copy nor upgrade to a 1.4-supporting client. However, I do ask that people upgrade their client as soon as possible as 1.4 clients will use a more efficient network protocol with a 1.4 server thus reducing load on the server. Also, 1.4 clients will automatically update local working copies to the new metadata format during the next SVN operation.
To Subversive users, if you had pre-1.1 versions of Subversive installed previously you may have to do the following in order to get SVN 1.4 support.
1. In the Install/Update window (Help -> Software Updates -> Find & Install) select "Search for new features to install".
2. Check the subversive update site
3. In the Subversive client plugin check the SVNKit 1.1 client and install it
After it is installed and eclipse restarts go to the eclipse preferences (Window -> Preferences) Team -> SVN section. In the SVN Client tab make sure your using SVN Kit as the client and not JavaSVN.
Once you're using the SVNKit client you may perform an SVN update or cleanup on your project to trigger the conversion to the new metadata format. To check if the metadata format has be updated you can look at the .svn/entries file. If it's XML then it is *not* the 1.4 format.
If you have any questions please let me know.
