International Polar Year Global Videoconference Events

Join MAGPI and the University of Pennsylvania for part of the third quarterly International Polar Day themed Our Changing Planet: Past and Present. The International Polar Year (IPY) and IGLO have organized two interactive videoconferences and live webcasts that will take place on March 13, 2008. Created in partnership with NASA and MAGPI, this event represents the first time that these institutions have collaborated on a project and will take place over two sessions: 

Session 1 - 12:00 am (midnight) GMT 
* NASA scientist Dr. Robert Bindschadler and Q&A
* IPCC scientist from Monash University and Q&A
* Monash Science Center, Melbourne, Australia
* Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China
* Universum-UNAM, Mexico City, Mexico
* Intersite Q&A between students and scientists 

Session 2 - 1:00 pm GMT 
* NASA scientist Dr. Robert Bindschadler and Q&A
* Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, Illinois
* Techniquest, Cardiff, Wales 
* Pavilhao do Conhecimento, Lisbon, Portugal 
* Bibliotheca Alexandrina,  Alexandria, Egypt 
* Intersite Q&A between students and scientists


View the Live Webstreams and Ask Questions of the Scientists

Anyone, anywhere in the world can view the live webstreams of the two worldwide videoconference events by going to http://commonsvcg.oar.net/MAGPI/. The live webstreams will be available on 12 and 13 March 2008 for viewing during the live events.

You can send questions during the live sessions to "" and they may be answered on the live interactive videoconference by the participating scientists.
