Matters of the Art Distance Learning Program -- Just in Time for Valentine's Day

Program Description: 

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a virtual field trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art! This fun and interactive lesson explores artistic depictions of love including gifts, candy, and weddings. Students will discover how love has inspired many different artists to create beautiful paintings, jewelry and even armor!

Program Outline: 

Introduction to the PMA, the educator, and videoconferencing
Introduction to Valentine’s Day
Discussion of Imagery related to Valentine’s Day cards 

Discussion of imagery related to candy 
Drawing and writing activity
Discussion of imagery related to gifts 
Discussion of imagery related to weddings 

Please Note: This is a general outline that will adjust to fit to the needs and schedule of the classroom teacher. 

Program Length: 
30-60 minutes depending on grade/need

Pre-Videoconference Activities: 

A pre-packet will be sent to the classroom teacher with a list of web and book resources as well as an idea generator for pre and post activities.

Program Cost: 
$70 per 30 minute interaction (PreK-K) 
$120 per 40-60 minute interaction (K-12) 

Note:
