[Apologies for cross-postings…] Colleagues, MAGPI is hosting the next session in our International Collaboration Series and we are opening it up to non-MAGPI member organizations nationally and internationally. If anyone is interested in hearing a bit from our colleagues in France and possibility building some collaboration opportunities we'd be delighted to have you join us next Tuesday Jan. 15th at 9am EST. Best, Jennifer MAGPI International Collaboration Series - France Date: Tuesday January 15, 2013 Time: 9:00 -10:30 am EST Target Audience: Higher Education Faculty, K20 Educators, Video IT Support Staff, Administrators Cost: Free Requirements for Participation: H.323 Equipment and connection to regional/national research and education network. MAGPI is pleased to partner with Centre de Production Multimédia, Université P.M. Curie in Paris France and European University Information Systems for this session. We will be joined by Prof. Yves Epelboin, Université P.M. Curie, Directeur du Service Général des TICE and Prof. Jean-Francois Desnos, Past President of EUNIS. We'll be talking with Yves Epelboin, the Director of the General Service for Information Technology and Communication for Teaching and Learning, University P.Curie UPMC-Paris6 and Jean-François Desnos, Executive Secretary of EUNIS (European UNiversity Information Systems organization) who was previously in charge of Information Technology Innovative Projects at Grenoble Universities, and former faculty at Université Pierre Mendès France in Grenoble UPMC has broadcast live courses since 2007 and up to 1200 students follow the course in real time, directly from the university portal. UPMC participate in iTunes U (Université P.M. Curie) for the general public and, at the same time, manages its own library, both public and private : video.upmc.fr. For videoconferencing UPMC has been working together with Seevogh (ex EVO), a start-up from Caltech, to provide a personal web videoconferencing system, H.323 compliant, to everybody. More than 1200 researchers use Seevogh International for professional exchanges. The students have access to an adapted web videoconferencing system, Seevogh Campus, for tutoring and personal exchange with their teachers. UPMC also manages a number of classical videoconferencing rooms, mixing their use with Seevogh solutions.
