Save the date for CANS 2012 in Seattle, Washington, USA, October 8-10, 2012!

Dear Colleagues,

Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us for the 2012 Chinese American Networking Symposium in Seattle, Washington, USA, October 8-10, 2012.  The CANS sponsoring organizations include Internet2, CAST-USA (Chinese Association for Science and Technology), CERNET (China Education and Research Network) and CSTNET (China Science and Technology Network).

CANS 2012:  One Network, One World

Started in 1998, CANS continues its focus on working together to promote interoperability and seamless networking – and seamless collaboration in research and education.  Particular emphases this year include network research; IPv6 migration and deployment; videoconferencing and telepresence exchanges; federated identity and authenticated access; integration of smart phones and tablets (such as the Apple iPhones/iPads/iPods) into university courses and infrastructure; mobility and advanced networks; Content Centric Networks (CCN); university-industry partnerships;  and other advanced applications.

The hosts for CANS 2012 this year are the Pacific Northwest Gigapop, Pacific Wave (a partnership between CENIC and PNWGP), and the University of Washington.  The local host committee looks forward to welcoming you to the beautiful Pacific Northwest and is planning many special events, including a visit to the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field!

The Organizing Committee is working to finalize details and will post registration information later, but we wanted to get this advance notice out to you so you could put this important event on your calendar!

Additional details regarding CANS 2012 about the program and registration, as they become available, as well as programs and presentations from previous years, may be found here:

Please contact if you have any questions or need a letter of invitation.  We look forward to seeing you in October 2012 in Seattle!
