The upcoming Internet2 Spring Member Meeting being held the week of April 23 in Arlington, VA will highlight initiatives, activities and contributions of the international community as well as the work of Internet2 members in international collaborations. We've noted a few of these below. We hope to see you there!

Roundtable: The Internet2 network and international connections - 8:00am - 10:00am - Salon J
This roundtable discussion will provide an opportunity for Internet2 international partners to learn more about and discuss the new Internet2 network. Internet2 network managers and engineers will be on hand to provide the latest information about the new Internet2 network buildout and services rollout. NSF International Research Network Connections project coordinators are also expected to be on hand to discuss how the NSF international connections relate to the new Internet2 network. Attendees to this roundtable are expected to be national and international research and education network operators, managers and staff.

International Task Force (ITF) Meeting - 1:00pm - 5:00pm - Salon J/K
The ITF is made up of representatives from each of the organizations with whom Internet2 has partnered through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The ITF serves as the forum for discussion of international issues relevant to the development of a high-performance, leading-edge network infrastructure, advanced technologies and applications for research and education.

Support for the High-performance Video (DVTS) Collaboration - 8:45am - 10:00am - Salon K
The aim of this session is to provide an exchange and discussion platform focus on best practice on DVTS system configuration, DVTS-specific measurement for trouble shooting the network problem and inter-AS routing fine tune to ensure high bandwidth requirement. DVTS application users, application system engineers and network administrators are encouraged to participate this session and propose for more DVTS collaborations in telemedicine, art performance and other fields globally. Supporting International Collaborations in Emerging Research & Education Networks - 7:30am - 8:45am - Jackson
Session Abstract The mission of this Internet2 Special Interest Group (SIG) for Supporting International Collaborations in Emerging R&E Networks is to bring together the international community to address what we can do together to advance the state of high-performance networking for research and education in hard-to-reach places in the world.

Research and Education Network Operators Group (RENOG) - 11:45am - 1:15pm - Madison
Forum for discussion of R/E network operators issues such as routing and e2e networking.

Planning Meeting: Health and Medical Research Collaborations between the US and South Asia - 1:00pm - 5:00pm - Salon D/E
This planning meeting will focus on opportunities for enhancing collaboration between the US and countries within South Asia in the healthcare, and medical and health sciences research fields utilizing dedicated research and education networks. A number of collaborations in both the clinical and research fields are already underway between countries and the field is expected to be a major driver of further investment in and deployment of advanced networks within and to the region. This meeting will gather information about expected needs of the community and plan for ongoing coordination of projects and initiatives. JANET Talk - 3:00pm - 4:00pm - Salon J
UKERNA are in the final stages of developing and procuring a national Voice collaboration Infrastructure for the UK Academic and Research community. The service which will be SIP based brings together voice, collaboration tools such as shared whiteboard and chat, as well as video. UKERNA are also investigating (with the UK telco regulator) OFCOM the possibility of breaking out into the PSTN. The session will describe the elements of the service, and the regulatory and technical considerations taken during development. Roger Bolam, UKERNA

Planning Meeting: Enhancing Research and Education Connectivity to and within South Asia - 7:30am - 5:00am - Salon K
This planning meeting will focus on issues related to the buildout and interconnection of research and education networks within the countries of South Asia, between countries within the region and to other regions of the world - including connectivity to US research and education networks. The countries covered are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. All interested individuals are encouraged to attend the meeting.
