“The Future of Network Security: Examining the Issues from
Networking 2003,” is the topic of the Internet2 Virtual
Briefing on Thursday, May 22. Scheduled for 1:00pm-2:30pm EDT
(17.00-18.30 UTC), the May Briefing will include remarks on cybersecurity
and cybertrust by Peter Freeman, assistant director of the National
Science Foundation and head of the Computer and Information Science and
Engineering (CISE) Directorate. Portions of taped comments by Nancy Wong,
director of the Office of Planning and Partnerships in the Department of
Homeland Security, and Richard Marshall, deputy director, Office of
Planning and Partnerships, United States Department of Homeland Security,
from the recent EDUCAUSE NET2003 conference will be included as well

Mike Roberts and Gary Bachula from Internet2 will discuss current higher
education network security initiatives and provide commentary on key
issues raised by the speakers.
