ESCC/Internet2 Joint Techs Meeting

Live Video Streaming of Software-Defined Networking, Integration of Services
Across Multiple Networks, Technology Convergence, Security,
Performance/Measurement, and IPv6 Presentations

Ann Arbor, Mich.—July 13, 2012—More than 300 network engineers from the
Internet2 community will convene at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.,
from Sunday, July 15 to Thursday, July 19 for the Summer 2012 ESCC/Internet2
Joint Techs Meeting to discuss software-defined networking (SDN)
technologies, as Internet2’s Network--the first nationwide open SDN network
platform--nears completion and other issues concerning networking.

Other issues to be addressed include: integration of services across multiple
networks, new, converged technology services, network monitoring and
performance diagnosis tools, network security, and IPv6: the coming crisis in
routing and addressing. A full agenda and live vide streaming information is
located at http://events.internet2.edu/2012/jt-stanford/agenda.cfm.

Key sessions at the conference include:

Internet2 Update: Innovation Platform
ESnet Update
SDN @ Google (presented by Google)
SDN: What We've Learned (experts from Stanford University)
SDN: Campus Networking (speakers from ESnet, Clemson University and Cisco)
SDN Use by National Labs (comments by ESnet experts)
SDN: Disruptive Technologies (Stanford University, Infinera Corp. and Brocade
commentators)
A Discussion and Demonstration of the new Cisco SDN Controller (given by
Cisco)

About Joint Techs:

Since 1998, the Joint Techs conference series, co-sponsored by Internet2 and
the Department of Energy’s Energy Science Network (ESnet) Site Coordinating
Committee (ESCC), brings together networking experts from research
institutions around the world for four days of in-depth discussions,
workshops, tutorials, demonstrations and presentations. The conference
addresses the most pressing challenges facing research and education
networks, which serve the vast bandwidth needs of colleges and universities
worldwide.
