Internet2, ERNET and C-DAC Create International Partnership

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - February 28, 2006 - Internet2 today announced a
partnership with ERNET and C-DAC, the research and education networking
organizations in India. The partnership was made official at a memorandum of
understanding signing ceremony held February 18, 2006 at the "Moving India
into the Global Community through Advanced Networking: Science, Education
and the Knowledge Economy" workshop in Mumbai, India.

Through this partnership, Internet2 and ERNET and C-DAC will collaborate on
the development of next-generation Internet technologies and applications in
conjunction with the global research and education community. The agreement
will also lay the groundwork for the organizations to work together toward
establishing high- performance Internet connectivity between their
respective networks with the goal of enabling researchers to collaborate
internationally to enhance research and resource-sharing worldwide.

Internet2 has been committed to partnering with the international research
and education community since its inception in 1996. To date, the
organization has over 46 international partnerships and connects to over 70
international networks. The latest partnership with ERNET and C-DAC
signifies a major step forward in working with the Indian higher education
and research community as part of the global advanced research and education
networking community, and enabling Indian researchers, faculty and students
across all disciplines to participate in international collaborations.
