Internet2 Announces Open Call For Submissions for First Annual IDEA Awards
Program

Awards to Recognize Innovators of Advanced Network Applications in the
Research and Education Community

Ann Arbor, MI - November 15, 2005 - Internet2 today announced an open call
for submissions for its first annual IDEA Awards program which seeks to
recognize innovators in creating advanced network applications that have had
a profound and positive impact within the research and education community.
IDEA Award candidates will have applied advanced networking to enable
substantial progress within research, teaching and learning by leveraging
the unique capabilities of the Internet2 network infrastructure. Awards will
be presented at Internet2's 2006 Spring Member Meeting held in Washington
D.C.

IDEA Award submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
* Magnitude of the positive impact of the application for its (current)
users
* Technical merit of the application
* Breadth of impact, as indicated by current user base and likelihood of
broader adoption by its full natural community of potential users

Additionally, submissions must have had a positive impact in one or more of
the following areas:
* Innovation in Research
* Advances in Teaching & Learning
* Scientific Discovery
* Global Collaboration

Eligibility
Entries may be submitted by an individual affiliated with an Internet2
member, an Abilene Sponsored Educational Group Participant, or an Abilene
Sponsored Participant.
Submissions must be received by December 8th, 2005 and should be submitted
via http://idea.internet2.edu/submit/
