The CampusEAI Consortium and Internet2 Announce The OPEN Student Television
Network

Internet2's Network Powers the First Nationwide Student-produced Television
Channel

CLEVELAND, OH - February 28, 2005 - The CampusEAI Consortium and Internet2
today announced the deployment of the OPEN Student Television Network, the
first nationwide student-produced television channel. Through this
collaboration, OPEN Student Television Network will now reach the over three
million users at 220 Internet2 member research and education institutions,
in addition to the 34 state education networks which have access to the
Internet2 Abilene network. Abilene is a nationwide high-performance backbone
network which operates at a speed 20,000 times faster than the average
household broadband connection.

Initiated by CampusEAI Consortium and Internet2 members including Case
Western Reserve University, Indiana University, Ohio State University,
Michigan State University, University of Connecticut, Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, University of Kansas, Emory University, Syracuse
University, University of Southern California, University of Nevada Las
Vegas, Emerson College, Carnegie Mellon University, and Washington
University in St. Louis, the OPEN Student Television Network is an
initiative that delivers student-produced television shows as a television
channel and video-on-demand

"The success of the CampusEAI Consortium's efforts in delivering advanced
multimedia content aligns well with the mission of Internet2," said Laurie
Burns, executive director of member and partner relations for Internet2.
"The collaborative efforts between our organizations on the OPEN Student
Television Network will pave the way for further content and idea sharing
across the higher education community."
