LIVE NETCASTS FROM SC2002 TO FEATURE KEYNOTE, PLENARY SPEAKERS

Live netcasts of National Science Foundation Director Rita Colwell's
SC2002 keynote address, as well as plenary presentations by Raymond L.
Orbach, Director of the Department of Energy Office of Science;
computational cosmologist Julian Borrill of Lawrence Berkeley National
Laboratory; Tetsuya Sato, Director-General, of the Earth Simulator
Center, Japan Marine Science and Technology Center (JAMSTEC); and Ron
Kikinis, Harvard Medical School, will be offered live from SC2002.

Also part of the SC2002 netcast program will be this month's Internet2
Virtual Briefing, originating from the show floor in Baltimore. The
Virtual Briefing will feature interviews with Ian Foster of Argonne
National Laboratory, Donna Cox of the National Center for Supercomputing
Applications, and Bob Grossman of the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Rounding out the netcast schedule will be video highlights capturing
some of the most interesting SC2002 exhibitors.

The SC2002 netcast will feature streaming QuickTime, made possible by
donations from Apple Computer, and will include several other streaming
video formats, including MPEG-1 multicast.

CENIC NGI Roundtable Workshop
Killer Apps =AD Proving the Need for One Gigabit
February 25, 2003
San Diego Supercomputer Center, UCSD

CENIC is now accepting presentation abstracts for the NGI Roundtable=20
Workshop: Killer Apps =AD Proving the Need for One Gigabit. The workshop,=
=20
highlighting current and potential applications made possible through a=20
ubiquitous gigabit Internet, will take place on February 25, 2003 at UCSD=92=
s=20
San Diego Supercomputer Center.

CENIC's Next Generation Internet (NGI) Roundtable addresses critical=20
technical, policy, financial and organization challenges facing the=20
delivery of one gigabit broadband to all Californians by 2010. The Killer=
=20
Apps workshop will bring together the interests of research, education,=20
commerce, state and local government and the general public to explore the=
=20
applications made possible with the implementation of robust end-to-end=20
broadband capabilities to every education institution, business and home in=
=20
California.

Proposals from individuals and companies with applications that will be=20
enhanced by or require ubiquitous broadband deployment will be considered.=
=20
Application areas of interest include, but are not limited to,=20
medicine/healthcare, education, security, government, entertainment,=20
communication, and science.

For consideration, proposals must contain the following information:
> Presentation title
> Abstract (not to exceed 250 words)
> Company name
> Speaker name
> Speaker title
> Speaker biography (not to exceed 250 words)
> Address, phone, fax, e-mail address of speaker
