Dear members of the Internet2 community,

I want to bring to your attention an event today at which Michigan
Governor John Engler will announce the formation of the Michigan
Information Technology Center (MITC), which will be a showcase for the
development of advanced technologies. Governor Engler has invited
Internet2 and Merit, an Internet2 member, to make their homes in a new
building that will be built through a generous grant from the MITC. The
support the MITC provides will benefit the national Internet2 community.

Webcast Advisory - Michigan Information Technology Center

Governor John Engler will unveil plans for the new Michigan Information
Technology Center (MITC) at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 25 (EST).

The MITC facility will be located in Ann Arbor and serve as a high-tech
incubator for new Internet technologies. The facility will also serve as
the new headquarters for Internet2 and Merit Network, Inc., recognizing
Michigan's historic role in the development of the Internet.

Doug Van Houweling of Internet2 and Hunt Williams of Merit will speak at
the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony, and Merit will provide a live
Webcast at http://www.merit.edu beginning at 10:45 am ET. The event is
expected to conclude by noon ET.
