Dear Colleagues,

We are looking forward to seeing you in just a few days now at the first-ever Internet2 Global Summit—with you and other community leaders right at the center of it all.

As you prepare your itineraries for Summit week, we want you to be aware of some of the amenities you’ll have at your disposal and some final information to plan your itinerary. If you have not done so, please visit our online program to get the latest info on this year’s Executive Track. And don’t forget to take a look at our Mile-High Survival Tips!

Leadership Lounge (Governor’s Square 16)

The Internet2 community Leadership Lounge will be available—exclusively for Executive Track attendees—from 3:00 p.m. Sunday until 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. Located in Governor’s Square 16, convenient to all conference activities, the lounge will remain unlocked throughout this entire period, so you will be sure to have easy access when you need it. There will be a sign just inside the door to identify the location.

Refreshments

Light refreshments will be available in the Leadership Lounge at the following times:

  • Sunday, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 7:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

Other Leadership Lounge Amenities

A printing kiosk will be available for your use from Monday morning until Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.

Selected netcast sessions will be streamed into the Leadership Lounge for your convenience. (Note that General Sessions will not be streamed.)

The lounge will have comfortable seating and plenty of convenient power outlets. Come and relax, grab a snack, compare notes with colleagues on the latest session, or just take a moment to catch up on your email.

CIO Forum (CIOs only, Monday, 4:45p, Plaza F)

At 4:45 p.m. Monday, there will be a unique opportunity to hash over topics of special interest to Internet2 community CIOs in an open, CIO-only discussion. Do you have something you’d like to ask your fellow IT leaders? Is there a particularly stubborn challenge you’d like to share? Submit your suggestions to . (CIOs, look for more information on this in the next few days.)

If you’re not a CIO, we suggest that you sit in on one of the other sessions scheduled at that time, take a closer look at some of our many sponsor stations, or refresh yourself in the Leadership Lounge before the evening reception.

NOAA, NWS, Big Data, and an Extreme Weather Event (Tuesday, 10:00 – 10:30 a.m., Plaza F)

During your Tuesday morning break, we hope you’ll enjoy this compelling NOAA presentation based on recent, local events. Historic rainfall and flooding struck the Front Range of Colorado in September of 2013. NOAA’s National Weather Service provided forecasts, warnings, and decision support information to emergency managers, first responders, federal, state, and local governments, media, business and the man on the street. Successful forecasts and warnings resulted from a number of factors including the academic and government research, operational improvements, collaboration and coordination made possible by big data and the ability to move that data around in an operational time frame.

Executive Track Closing Social (Tuesday, 5:30p, Governor’s Square 14)

Don’t miss the closing social for Executive Track registrants and special guests. Relax and review Global Summit highlights over appetizers and beer, wine or soft drinks.

Be sure to visit our online program to check out all the Executive Track, General Session, netcast, and other sessions available to you at the 2014 Internet2 Global Summit.

And if you have not yet registered, there’s still time—but you must act quickly! Register today and help our community shape the future of research and education. Safe travels and we’ll see you soon!

Best Regards,
