  1. Can you get a route to the database from your computer?  Or SSH tunnel?  Then you can adjust the container locally before committing and trying at AWS.
  2. In grouper properties you can identify an admin group, create that group, add yourself to it (maybe via gsh?)
  3. You need to merge all your configs from envs into what you want it to be and import it with the UI, and then don’t have those configs in config files anymore.

Subject: [grouper-users] Moving from Linux to AWS Container

Howdy all,

We are “upgrading” from 2.4 running on premises in a Linux server (working fine) to v2.5 in an AWS Docker container. I’ve moved over basic configurations (in the …apiBinary/conf directory) to get started, but I’m at a loss as to:

  1. How to log into the UI (I never set a groupersystem account password – or does it even exist?)
  2. Setup my user subject as an admin
  3. Move the conf data to the database
  4. Perform a subject lookup in GSH

None of these are working “out of the box”

I’m certain I have database connectivity as I was able to run the initialization command and it set up the schema. I’m also confirmed as having our subjects imported into the database (we are running AWS native MySQL DBaaS). I’m feeling like everything I know about Grouper underpinnings (which wasn’t much) is not applicable.

Can someone give me a shove in the right direction?

-
