Vivek coded a new module for Grouper around reporting in Grouper 2.4 patches: api #61, ui #37.

You need reporting for various reasons:

  1. See who has access across various groups
  2. Get reports in a spreadsheet so you can slice and dice
  3. See who in a service could be a candidate for deprovisioning
  4. See who has not opted in to a service that you would like people to opt in to (e.g. a gradual MFA rollout)
  5. See who has access to a service to reduce licensing costs
  6. Fill in your reason here

Currently this is SQL based, you can join members of groups, add attribute columns, etc.  Reports can be generated on a schedule.  Users can be notified by email when a report is ready to view.  They can click a link in the email and it will be securely downloaded from the Grouper UI.  Report files can be stored on a shared filesystem or in AWS S3.

Since you can use reporting for deprovisioning (e.g. reason #3 above), we are adding the ability to attest a report (will let you know when done).  This can make attestation a lot easier across many groups in a service.

Try it out and please give us feedback.  If you need help with it let me know.

Thanks,

Chris
