Yes, we are in absolute agreement.  However, my quick read (and this what we all do - quick reads) of the Grouper doc Chris published makes little to no mention of AMQP.  If I weren’t familiar with what is going on I would draw the conclusion Grouper is only supporting RabbitMQ.  All the config and such is for RabbitMQ - so if I wanted to support some other product - I would have to ask and many tend to shy away from asking.  I guess what I am requesting is for the grouper code to be AMQP oriented and not product specific - the TIER path should definitely be RabbitMQ.

Agreed that TIER conformance is about standards compliance and not products.

 

BUT to have running code, we need a reference implementation of the standard. For TIER’s chosen standard, AMQP, we’re opting to use the RabbitMQ implementation for our development and sandbox instances.

I am excited about this capability.  From the conversations I have participated this work was supposed to be about supporting the AMQP protocol and not specifying the product - RabbitMQ.  AMQP is supported by nearly all the popular messaging products.  I think it would be wise to go with AMQP support for Grouper and not specify the product.

Got the configuration ironed out, made a rabbitmq-connector tarball, theres a patch and snapshot client release since it needed some things, and the grouperInstaller will install this component.

 

Still kicking the tires here...
