Hi Chris,

 

I tried to upgrade DB schema (using UI option) and it threw below error (attached to link).

Questions:

• Is there a way to only upgrade DB schema and skip all patches? (API, UI & WS are upgraded & patches are already applied)

• Does DB schema update check for the SQL Script? If so, where would I find 2.3.0 SQL Script?

• In order to upgrade DB schema, do I need to run GSH from Grouper 2.2.2 API? (I tried running GSH from 2.3.0 API and it failed because 2.2.2 DB Schema is different than 2.3.0 Schema)

 

@Carey, Grouper API, UI & WS are already updated and DB Schema update is the only part of the puzzle that needs to be solved. Truly appreciate your time for the suggestions, Carey! :)  Also, just a heads up, make sure you give around one month of time for the upgrade. (If, each component - API, UI & WS are deployed on different servers)

The first one will change the DB.

                Which may (or could) cause older components/parts some “problems” until they are upgraded.

                I don’t _know_ that you will have issues, but I would find it hard to believe that everything would work “as expected” in a mixed version grouper universe. ( but maybe)

                I think it all depends on the details of the DB structure changes and the expectations of each grouper component.

 

 

I think the “best” (better safe than sorry approach) process would be to:

                Down everything. (All UI’s, WS, PSP’s, loaders, etc..)

                                Take your backups. (ß always a good idea. J )

                Upgrade the “most important things” (a API, UI and Loader, maybe WS if you require that too) then bring them up.

                Then upgrade anything else (load balanced redundant servers?) and bring those back up too.

If you have a webapp pointing to the schema, select ui or ws (whichever it is).  If you have an api pointing to it, pick api…

Thank you for the prompt reply. When I select "update", the only option there are api, ui, ws, pspng, or psp. No option for the DB schema update, which option should I select? (I tried api and that didn't update the schema)

In the installer, instead of picking “install”, pick “update”.  Does it work?  It should update the schema.  Send me the output, logs and SQL script so I can take a look

Hi Chris,

 

I am upgrading Grouper DB Schema from v2.2.2 to v2.3.0. I tried running the Grouper 2.3.0 installer, but it ends up initializing DB completely instead of updating schema. Is there a way to update just Grouper schema (keeping data intact) from v2.2.2 to v2.3.0?
