Mr. Babb,

Thank you so much.

From your explanation I have submitted a RFE for grouper.  https://bugs.internet2.edu/jira/browse/GRP-1459
If you are interested, please comment on what I submitted.

I’d like to create a page on the grouper site for counts submitted by institutions.  Would someone from the grouper team point me to the appropriate place to create this page or create the stub page and I will edit it and make it known to the community.

Thanks!

Members is every entry in grouper_members. The daily report essentially does a  `select count(*) from grouper_members` if I remember correctly when we were putting together some of our own instrumentation. Grouper_members contains both entities from your subject source along with groups--maybe only those that are used somewhere in a membership? It doesn’t look to be purged ever as we have groups that no longer exist still in there. 138778 vs 24353 groups that actually exist for us.

Our current counts are:

memberships:           19,640,701
groups:                24,353
members:               635,694
folders:               464

Hi, in the following stats from the grouper daily report:

   memberships:           7,856,640
   groups:                78,362
   members:               405,109
   folders:               29,983

what are members?  my subject source has 217K subjects.  I am not sure I appreciate what the members number represents.  I wasn’t able to find a definition for it.

Also, in order to appreciate how sites compare to one another, is there a place for us to put these statistics?  At least until metrics are available where this all might be automated???

   Thanks!
