Can you just select from the “with” query (as subquery), know what I mean?

I think there some sort of safety check when trying to run queries against a SQL type server.

CTE queries start with the keyword 'WITH' and the loader seems to check that a query starts with 'SELECT' Although I could re-write the query CTE queries can really make SQL much nicer and easier to read.

Could a future version allow CTE queries?
