Seems like a good suggestion. I updated this page:

I think the normal UTF-8 would work for most people with existing deployments
though...

Hi Scott,

Should you be using the utf8mb4 encoding instead of the utf8 encoding
(c.f. https://mathiasbynens.be/notes/mysql-utf8mb4)? Not that it'll
answer any of your questions, but it may prevent unpleasant surprises
down the line…
