Chris,

This looks like a possible externalization solution.  Question:  is the file “subject.properties” new in v2.2?  Haven’t seen it before.

Thanks,

Lawrence

https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+configuration+overlay

Basically you specify either classpath or file path of config files to hierarchically overlay each other.  You could have one that has all the prod stuff, and one that has all the institution stuff in general (all envs), and one that is Grouper defaults…  or do whatever makes sense in your env. ok?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

>>>When you say externalize, do you also mean encrypt?  In 2.2 you can externalize that stuff…

Let’s just talk about externalize without encryption –what does v2.2 offer?

Thanks,

Lawrence

We are more interested in the externalization of configs so that we can do binary environment promotion in our SDLC.  From I understand morphstring does externalization and encryption but is only meant for use with passwords.  We want to externalize anything that will change from say QA environment to Prod environment – host, logon, pass for db and ldap.

Thanks,

Lawrence

Its meant to encrypt passwords.  What else do you want to encrypt?  Give me specific param names.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

Does morphstring allow for externalization of all credentials in the config files, or is it just meant to encrypting passwords?

Thanks,
