[I'm adding the signet list to the CC list]

Some while back I analyzed the IMS Enterprise spec in regard to the membership management service and concluded that it could be implemented by a web services wrapper around the Grouper API.

Do you suppose someone from this consortium of UK universities might be interested to evaluate Grouper for use in their project? I'd be happy to speak with them. I'd really like to see discussion on grouper-dev embrace topics like profiles for use of Grouper in various contexts.

Following the I2MI UI conference call I had a couple of relevant thoughts.

* IMS Enterprise Services Loader / Provisioner

Firstly, there was mention of how Signet would communicate with
Grouper (this might apply generically to the any web
application/Grouper interface). Perhaps, another loader/provisioner
that could be considered sometime in the future could implement the
IMS Enterprise Services Specification. There is an Apache Axis based
implementation of the web services specification (that actually lacks
the group management component) developed by CETIS. I know of at
least one consortium of Universities in the UK that were considering
using this to communicate groups information across portal instances.

IMS Enterprise Services Specification:

Using the Enterprise SDK to create a minimal IMS Enterprise web service:

* DHTML Tree widget

On an entirely different subject there was a brief mention of DHTML. At Bristol we have had considerable success developing portlets based
on a relatively simple DHTML tree widget to render various
incarnations of bookmark-like functionality. This technique has the
added benefit that it can easily produce W3C Accessibility standards
compliant output.

Unobtrusive DHTML, and the power of unordered lists:
