There is a new function of the grouperInstaller which allows you to create patches in a reliable way.  This is used by developers of the Grouper software.

Basically you need to know the JIRA key, description, metadata, which files are affected (which are committed to the branch), and patch dependencies (in other modules), and it will create a patch for you.  It will also generate the HTML for the release notes page.

Note, you still need to inspect the patch to make sure it is ok, and thoroughly test the patch to make sure it works.
