Discussion
Testing of the Grouper 2.2 release has been going well, with few or no outstanding issues remaining.
Gail: As PSU, the sysadmin used the installer instead of the step by step notes There was an issue with sources.xml on some of the properties files, Question: Can you copy the config files from the previous version? Shilen: Grouper properties is now used with configuration overlays See https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+configuration+overlay
Previously there was one grouper.properites file In Grouper 2.2, there is grouper.base.properties And the overrides go in the grouper.properties file Then when you do upgrades you are just managing your own overrides
Note that with the sources. xml file there is no overlay that will be same as in the past.
-We need to be clear in the documentation and the upgrade instructions regarding config files so Grouper deployers understand exactly what they need to do. -Possibly add a note on the Grouper downloads page and in other appropriate places --- document this issue around config files prominently See Upgrade Instructions: https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/v2.2+Upgrade+Instructions+from+v2.1
-DaveL experiencing slowness in testing using the demo server, when the subject source is an LDAP server. -Shilen did performance testing with Duke's production and did not find a performance issue. -Likely this is a local issue.
Some documentation work is needed prior to the release: For example, more documentation on the new Grouper UI, and also clarifying some of the documentation for the Admin and Web UIs. Chris and Emily will work on this.
Training videos will be important, but are not a prerequisite for the Grouper 2.2 release. Dave will work on the Grouper 2.2 highlights video next week Shilen hopes to complete the training videos on the Grouper new UI within a month.
(Emily and Tom) will work on release communication Emily draft an email for the release, Tom will review it. Note: the Grouper 2.2 release was announced on July 10, 2014 See https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+2.2+Release+Announcement
