It works like the other part of the API... if there is no outer transaction, 
then it will commit when you make the call.  If there is an outer tx, it will 
wait until the outer transaction commits.  As far as internal validation, you 
mean to check if there is a definition for each name, and whatever other 
rules?  I need to add that stuff in at some point...  first get it working, 
then polish it up.
