*Discussion*
-Upcoming Event:
sig-gro combined working group session at I2 Spring meeting -
The next face-to-face opportunity for the Signet Working Group will be at the Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting <http://events.internet2.edu/2007/spring-mm/>. In particular, there will be a combined Grouper/Signet BoF on Monday morning, 23-April, at 10:30am EDT. There will be an emphasis on integration and related experiences of those working with the software on their campus. Stay current with meeting room location and detailed meeting abstract at the following link <http://events.internet2.edu/2007/spring-mm/sessionDetails.cfm?session=3217&event=267>. [AI] {Jessica} will draft an invitation to the Grouper and Signet –user lists for the upcoming Spring Member Meeting.

- Readying release v1.2-
{Tom} led the Group through discussion of recent work to ready the next release of Grouper for use. Among the outstanding issues, {Blair} mentioned 2 remaining tasks: 1) a few tests that transiently fail; he will be looking into these, and 2) he is also working on a larger issue of the upgrade path. He hopes to make it possible to use existing schema (or fresh schema if doing a new install.) The v1.2 schema is not finalized, though it has not changed in awhile. It will take some work yet, to make it work with v1.1. He will also be looking at performance profiling.
[AI] {Blair} will share the performance profiling tools that he is using with the Group.

As of the last Working Group call, {Gary} reported that all changes to the UI should work with HEAD. He also said they ought to make sure the QuickStart database has examples of group type and samples of imports/exports.

{Tom} summarized by saying the new release will include an API, UI, and QuickStart, as usual. {Jessica} will work with {Tom} on documentation, with {Blair} and {Gary} adding their contributions. {Blair} said he would need another 2 weeks before the release candidate would be ready, to ensure adequate time for setting the old schema against the new release. A realistic target date for the release candidate is April 20; they will check in on the April 18th Working Group call and adjust the date from there. {Tom} expressed a need for other users and developers to try out the release candidate and provide timely feedback.

[AI] {Blair} will send an email to the Group explaining his thoughts how an extension framework fits into Grouper.

{Kathryn} briefly discussed some of the changes for the Subject API v0.3.0. The Group discussed semantics of naming it simply v0.3 or v0.3.0, and settled on the latter for thoroughness.

[AI] {Joy} will prepare an outline of a potential Cornell use case for the Member Meeting of the provisioning connector regarding the preservation of security for a query for group attributes. (from 9-Nov-06)

-Preliminary v1.2 API performance numbers-
{Blair} shared performance numbers generated on hsqldb (not Postgres.) While most of the numbers are running much faster, only one is significantly worse. He hopes to do some profiling on that particular benchmark to improve it. See {Blair's blog} <http://groupertoolkit.blogspot.com> (also in Grouper Project area of the wiki.)
[AI] Group will give feedback to {Blair} on the API performance numbers available in his blog.

The next Grouper Working Group call will be on April 18, 2007 at 12pm EDT.
