Hi. This is an intro message for everyone who has expressed interest in participating in the DKIM Deployment activity that Lucy Lynch and I have been organizing. Everyone should be aware that there is a wiki site for it:

https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/ddx/DKIM+Deployment

If you don't want to be on the list, let me know, or use the mailing list link on the wiki page to unsubscribe.

If you want read-write access to the site (which we encourage everyone to have), follow the instructions at:

http://middleware.internet2.edu/docs/internet2-spaces-instructions-200703.html

to get a wiki account (and a ProtectNetwork account if you need one) and get added to the access group for this site.

We are having an initial meeting this coming Sunday, November 16, at the IETF meeting at the Hilton Minneapolis, 1:30 - 5:30. There is a draft agenda on the wiki, and also a logistics and general Minneapoliana page.

Please note that all attendees are encouraged to stay for the regular IETF meeting if they wish. If you want to do this please register for the meeting via http://www.ietf.org/meetings/73/, by 5PM US Pacific time November 14, but *do not pay*. Let Lucy Lynch, <> know and ISoc will cover the registration cost.

Just in case it isn't clear, this is very much an Experimental activity. Our starting points are the vision of improving the trustworthiness of the Internet, the promise of DKIM technology, and the value of the higher-ed community. But we are assembling this busy, knowledgeable and well-placed set of folks so we can tap our collected expertise and capabilities to move the larger Internet in the right direction, whatever that may be. So please question the assumptions and suggest alternatives. Our main goal is to put together a program that can make a positive difference. Though of course, like all other anti-spam-related activities, the goal is not "eliminating spam" ... 8^)

Quite few interested participants are not able to attend the initial meeting. We encourage discussion via email, starting now. You can also contribute via the wiki. We will probably set up regular conference calls after the initial meeting.

Thanks,

- RL "Bob"
