What is The CrossConnects: Improving Data Mobility & Management for International Cosmology Workshop?
Cosmology data sets are already reaching into the petabyte scale and this trend will only accelerate. This data is produced from sources ranging from supercomputing centers —where large-scale cosmological modeling and simulations are performed—to telescopes that are producing data daily. Many cosmologists and data managers struggle with data workflow, especially as the need for real-time analysis of cosmic events increases.

This CrossConnects workshop aims to bring together astronomers and cosmologists with data managers, networking experts, software engineers, and project/program leaders. We hope to share knowledge, tools, and build partnerships necessary to support the cosmology domain. Network providers engage in open discussion with users to learn what the cosmology community requires: what they need to do, what they cannot do, and what they could do if there were no limitations.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
Do you support cosmology research on your campus network or data center? Are you looking for information or collaborations that will help with the data, storage, and computing demands you can expect as research on this topic expands? Do you have expertise to share or interest in brainstorming solutions to this rapidly growing problem?

If so, please join us on February 10-11, 2015 at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA.
