ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

ESnet and Internet2 – in collaboration with partners Indiana University (IU), National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and NOAA – are hosting a multi-day workshop that will bring together network, software, and data management experts with scientists from the international climate community.

The goal of the workshop is to initiate an active dialogue among climate scientists, climate data managers, and cyberinfrastructure engineers with the goal of setting longer-term relationship building in motion. The workshop also hopes to provide climate researchers with broad, concrete, technical, immediately useful tools, and resources for improved data transport and management.

SUBMISSIONS:

The program committee is seeking presentation proposals for these focus areas:

Focus Area #1: Technology Best Practices

·       Network (architectures, performance measurement, security)

·       Computing systems (reference architectures, security, and forensics, network connect)

·       Software (Data transfer, workflow management systems, Earth System Grid Federation)

Focus Area #2: Scientific Drivers

·       Process of science

·       Past, present, future outcomes

·       Event horizon for change (e.g. new technology and processes that will be a fundamental change?)

Focus Area #3: Facility Overviews

·      Trends in data scale

·      Infrastructure deployment plans

·      Support for high-performance data movement, data analysis, or other Big Data capabilities

HOW TO SUBMIT:

If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please send an email to that includes:

  • Talk title
  • Abstract
  • Talk duration
  • Speaker(s)
  • Contact information (name, title, organization, and email for any speakers other than the submitter).
