We use the Shibboleth EDS. All IdPs known in the SP metadata are
presented through that interface. Right now all InCommon IdPs are
effectively (not specifically) whitelisted.

Yes.

We are aiming to move in that direction and to add proper error
handling to the application (COmanage).
