Hello -

     You are invited to attend the Interfederation session of the Spring Internet2 Member Meeting.  This session will occur Sunday April 25 5-7 pm, just before the I2 member meeting. The session (in Salon E/F), a mix of some presentations and a lot of discussion, is aimed to accommodate several goals and communities and this note might help you schedule your time. The first part of the session is focused around collaboration management with a group of Dutch CIO's and technologists; the second half will look at the interfederation issues associated with such collaborations. 

     From 5-6 pm, there will be a discussion of collaboration stuff. We'll talk about COmanage and the VO's we've been looking at, and the Dutch will talk about their work with COIN (see http://www.surfnet.nl/Documents/indi-2009-07-020%20(Report%20Collaboration%20Infrastructure).pdf for a very interesting report.) Status of domesticated applications, work with Adobe, MS, and Google, help desk issues, etc.

     From 6-7 pm, we'll have a conversation on interfederation, oriented towards meeting the needs of collaboration more than the broader set of issues of interfederation and federation soup.  We'll talk about the larger issues to get people level-set, but we'll spend most of the time on what we can do in the short-term while the large issues get addressed. Some of the topics will include accommodating small but widely used SP's, WAYF issues until proper discovery is in place, names spaces and international groups, Silver requirements and alignments, etc.

     If you are unable to attend, some other sessions may also be of interest.  In particular, the COmanage working group on Monday from 9:00a.m. to 10:15a.m. and the Federated Collaboration Approaches track session on Tuesday from 8:45a.m. to 10:00a.m. will further discuss interesting collaboration tools and approaches currently under development.
