This turned into an effort to document the guiding vision of the project (as 
I see it and absolutely open to change) and the start of minor updates to the 
integration docs.

Rather than diving into coding, I want to continue down this path of 
documenting what the various pieces are and how they should work.  This would 
make my coding efforts more fruitful and make it easier for others to 
contribute code as well.
