Hello CLASS cohort,

 

There is a workshop on ‘Exploring Cloud for Acceleration of Science’ (E-CAS) - NSF funded projects tomorrow.

These are cutting edge examples of how researchers are using commercial cloud (such as Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services) - from simulations using more than 100,000 CPU cores to Machine Learning as a service using the latest GPUs and multi-FPGA platforms.

This workshop/webinar is open to all this Wednesday 22nd Sept (from 1pm US-Eastern time).

Exploring Clouds for Acceleration of Science (E-CAS)is a project funded by the National Science Foundation that is being administered and coordinated by Internet2 in collaboration with commercial cloud service providers. The TechEXtra21 E-CAS Phase II workshop on September 22 will highlight the achievements of the projects undertaken by the sub-awardees and discuss some of the benefits and challenges of using cloud platforms to support research. Register now.

1:30-3 p.m. ET	Accelerated Machine Learning and its application to various fields MIT: Philip Harris & multi-institutional team
3-4:30 p.m. ET	Deciphering the brain’s neural code SUNY: Salvador Dura-Bernal and team
4:30 – 5:15 p.m. ET	Lessons learned from the E-CAS project. Presentation followed by a panel discussion and question time.
