It is a clear, but delightfully Cloudy day here in Bloomington, IN this morning. Oddly, we have a power outage this morning. Luckily, it’s two weeks after we finished installing a back-up battery in our house, so I’ve not been impacted. Which means I still have wifi, which means you get an email from me!

 

The planets, er, clouds, are aligning today to bring you two excellent events today.

 

  1. At 9am PDT/12pm EDT is the monthly call of the Cloud Computing Community Group. This month’s meeting features two wonderful talks that were given at the Cloud Forum. Jonathan White from UCF has a compelling story about the impact FinOps had on a single department at his institution. And Matthew Rich from Northwestern, will outline standard security operations (SecOps) practices and responsibilities, and the challenges of implementing them in the highly distributed environment of a university.
  1. At 11am PDT/2pm EDT we have the NET+ AWS Strat Call where we will hear from Noah Eden, WWPS Cloud Innovation Program Leader, and the head of AWS’s Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) Program. He’ll walk us through some of the top projects the CICs have developed, and open-sourced, that might be of interest to the R&E community. We’ll choose our favorites and plan to build them ourselves at Barn-Raisings later in the year.

 

Please join us if you can! Both sessions will be recorded, but if you wait for that, you can’t ask questions, can you!
