  to a unique event. We are going to meet the people who run the AWS Cloud 
 Innovation Centers<https://aws.amazon.com/government-education/cloud-innov
 ation-centers/> (CICs) at US universities as well as some of the students 
 working in them. CICs [pronounced kicks] are programs where faculty and AW
 S experts train students to use AWS tools to build professional solutions 
 for issues faced by some non-profit and governmental organizations. When t
 he build the solution\, they open-source it.\n\nWe’ll hear about the CIC
 s and they will describe and possibly demo a number of their projects. Our
  guest will be Noah Eden\, WWPS Cloud Innovation Program Leader\, and the 
 head of the CIC Program. Noah will walk us through the CIC projects deemed
  of most potential interest to the R&E community. We will then vote on whi
 ch ones we’d like to take on for our next Barn Raisings.\n\nAs a reminde
 r\, a Barn Raising is when we devote a block of time to building out an ap
 plication in our own AWS accounts so that you have your own working copy r
 eady to deploy at your own institution or just as a learning experience.\n
