After a busy Cloud Forum last week it’s back to the normal schedule. I am writing to remind you all of two things on the horizon, both highlighted below. Tomorrow we have the NET+ AWS Barn-Raising. There is still a little space in that. And coming up on June 10 is the GCP Cloud Admin Training. Both of these things are free to CICP members. Check them out. Sign up.

I am writing to throw a few things on your radar. Apologies in advance for those on the NET+ GCP list as you’ll get a separate email with some of these same items.

 

• AWS

• The 5/21 Tech Share has been cancelled due to the Cloud Forum. The next Tech Share will be Wednesday, June 2.
• We are holding a NET+ AWS Barn-Raising on Wednesday, May 28, to build IU’s Automated Transcription Service. Details and registration here. I’ll be sending out a calendar invitation for this, but please forward the link to others who may be interested, but not on this list.

• GCP

• The May Tech Share is on May 15, Rick Rhoades’s birthday, a minor national cloud holiday. It’s at 1pm EDT at https://internet2.zoom.us/j/82174251582. And before you ask, Rick doesn’t come to those calls. He’s all about delegating.
• The NET+ GCP Barn Raising to build the Campus Engagement Coach has been moved to June 24. Details and registration here.

• CLASS – A few relevant highlights. See the full schedule here.

• June 10: Google Cloud Admin Basic Training - Does your institution use GCP? Do you need to train a primary or backup admin? Learn the critical administrative aspects of managing a GCP Organization, including folder structure, organizational policies, project provisioning, role management, billing, credit management, and more. NOTE: This is FREE to CICP subscriber institutions.
• Starting September 8: AWS Solutions Architect Associate training – This covers the knowledge needed for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification and it taught by former AWS SA Chris Kuehn. CICP subscribers get an extra discount. Use your CLASS voucher to pay for this.
• Starting September 29: AWS Security – The third (fourth?) time Notre Dame’s James Smith is running this workshop. Check out James’s blog post on the topic. CICP subscribers get an extra discount. Use your CLASS voucher to pay for this.
• There are several other workshops listed on Globus, containers, GitHub CoPilot, and more on the CLASS schedule.

• Other

• The Cloud Forum takes place at NYU May 20-22. I hope to see many of you there. For those who can’t attend in person, please consider joining us for the researcher presentations and panel that will be available virtually.
• Also, for those unable to attend Cloud Forum, mark your calendars for the May 28 CCCG meeting to hear the results of this year’s State of the Cloud survey.
