[You are receiving this message because you either subscribed yourself to the
bwctl-announce list, or someone at Internet2 thought you might be interested
in
this announcement. Please be assured that we have not subscribed you to a list
if the second case is true. This is a single announcement message. However,
you
are invited to join that list if this application is of interest to you.]

The initial beta release of BWCTL (Bandwidth Control) is now available for
download from http://e2epi.internet2.edu/bwctl/.

BWCTL is a command line client application and a scheduling and policy daemon
that wraps iperf (http://dast.nlanr.net/Projects/Iperf/). Currently BWCTL
wraps
Iperf by actually executing iperf on the systems. The application works by
contacting a bwctld process on the remote system and on the local system to
request that those daemons perform a specific iperf test between them.

BWCTL specifically allows multiple entities to request Iperf tests to the same
host without forcing those entities to have any prior knowledge of each other.
This makes it much easier to mix on-demand and regularly scheduled Iperf tests
to the same host.

More information on BWCTL can be found from http://e2epi.internet2.edu/bwctl/.

I would like invite anyone who is interested to join the bwctl-announce and/or
the bwctl-users email lists.

The bwctl-announce list has been setup as a very low-volume mailing list, only
for announcements. New versions of the software will be announced here. You
can
subscribe or change your subscription options for this list at
https://mail.internet2.edu/wws/info/bwctl-announce.

The bwctl-users list has been set up for users to discuss ongoing issues with
the software. This is the main avenue to report any problems or feature
requests. You can subscribe or change your subscription options for this list
at
https://mail.internet2.edu/wws/info/bwctl-users.
